A Field Trip to the Particle Zoo (Workshop)

This workshop will be presented in an online format.

This workshop is for any teacher that would like to catch up on some basic, more recent aspects of science. It includes topics that may have been difficult to grasp in college, but which someone would love to understand in order to dialogue knowledgeably with kids, colleagues, and social media buddies.  This knowledge may help a person confidently vote, take social action, or even watch movies with scientific confidence.

The workshop includes content in physics, biology, and chemistry related to societal issues and is taught by an education professor experienced in teaching science to elementary teacher candidates. Be prepared to produce a short video to show off what is  learned. Teachers are asked to have a fully-charged cellphone or other device capable of recording a short video or a fully-charged laptop or tablet if it will help to produce a higher quality video. Teachers will be introduced to Particle Zoo plush toys and have a chance to take one home. Click here for Learning Outcomes.

Prerequisite: None

Workshops are designed to be regional professional development opportunities. Teachers may register for any available workshop that is not within their region; however, STEM Teach does not reimburse for travel expenses.
