CHEM 550 Introductory Biochemistry (Graduate)

This course covers the following topics and concepts: (1) structure and function of biological molecules—proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids, (2) protein composition and structure, enzyme kinetics, catalytic and regulatory, (3) methods by which cells transduce and store energy—metabolic cycles and pathways, and (4) ways in which cells respond to environmental changes.  

Prerequisite: Two semesters of organic chemistry as an undergraduate student & a license to teach high school chemistry.
